Import, share, and back up
Bring material into a Space, export results, and back up a local-first project.
Vibecape content lives in local files. Importing is not merely collecting material: place it in the right Space, summarize and organize it, then turn it into a project output.
Import material
You can import a Markdown file, a folder of documents, or a web URL, and you can drag files from the system file manager. Import actions are available from the document tree and Space menu.
Before importing, decide which Space owns the material and whether it is temporary or long-lived. Use an Inbox folder when you are unsure.
After importing a URL, open the document to check completeness, then ask Chat to extract project-relevant information and facts that still need verification.
Export and share
- Markdown for continued editing or migration;
- PDF for a reading copy;
- Zip for a document and its children;
- copied Markdown or a local path for email, issues, pull requests, or developer tools.
Backup and version history
Because a Space is a normal folder, you can back it up with Time Machine, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, an external drive, or Git. Keep important projects both on your computer and in at least one other location.
Git is useful for long-lived text projects. .vibecape/ and .downcity/ contain local runtime state and normally should not be committed. To move a Space to another computer, copy the complete folder and open it again.
